New Islay Mug

'Islay, way out west ' mug , celebrating Islay's position in Scotland is our new design, with the local seals sunning themselves on the rocks below Portnahaven Lighthouse. This mug is a great reminder of the special sunshine found only Way out West.

We present a fabulous scarf produced especially for us by the talented Shirley Pinder. Utilising the warm, soft colours found in the Islay landscape, she incorporates her trademark bubble and gives us a wonderful check.

Spring Time in Islay

At last the first signs of spring in Bridgend woods, with carpets of snowdrops shining in the February sun!

Now we can look forward to the daffodils followed by the bluebells.

We are delighted to have Steven Mithen's new book  about our Mesolithic Hebridean ancestors.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

All in Roy's thank everyone for their continued custom and wish them a VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS  and the very best for 2011

Les Wilson's Fire in the Head Book Signing

Join us on Saturday 27th November at 6.00pm when Les Wilson, author and celebrated scottish Documentary film maker, will read from his first novel Fire in the Head. This book was partly written in Islay and Les will be happy to answer your questions and sign copies at the event. All are welcome to come along to The Celtic House in Bowmore. Refreshments will be served.

Les Wilson's novel tells not just of rivalries, jealousies and murder, but also of an inherent incompatibility between the ecology of our planet and the logic of Western capitalism, which is played out over and over again - relentlessly.

Les Wilson is a writer, journalist and award-winning documentary film-maker. He is also the creative director of Caledonia TV, which he co-founded 18 years ago. He has written extensively for television, for example King Jamie and the Angel for Channel 4 and Scotland's War for STV. Fire In The Head is his first novel.
